1.5 Million Pounds to go to Other Countries

by Stueeeey on Dec.11, 2009, under Submitted by Email

As part of an E.U. Plan to try and reduce climate change they want to pump 6.5 billion pounds into the under developed countries to help them tackle the problem.

However my view as that the Government has warned of that they are going to have to cut public spending due to the recession so how on earth can they afford to give away 1.5 million pounds away? Also being the biggest contributors.

I have no problem in supporting other countries just surely you should sort out problems in your own country like unemployment first.

Internet Safety for Children

by Stueeeey on Dec.08, 2009, under Submitted by Email

As of 2011 in the UK children will be taught Internet Safety as party of the national curriculm. This is announced along side that the Government is going to inject 30 m GBP in order to get everyone online.

I personally think its about time that this sort of thing is taught especially after the finding about Googling people’s names.

NHS I.T. System to be scaled back

by Stueeeey on Dec.07, 2009, under Submitted by Email

Over the last couple of years the Government have been trying to develop/implement and IT System for NHS which would mean that everyone in the NHS would have access to relvant patient details instantly.

The system is estimated to have cost 12bn GBP and it seems in the latest budget they are finally going to cut back on spending for it. Some are even calling it to be axed as its just too big to be able to be used in reality without being a drain to tax payers.

Others are saying that a huge amount of money into it that it should be finished as it would help in the long run.

I must admit I am undecided.

Googling Your Name

by Stueeeey on Dec.06, 2009, under Submitted by Email

Have you ever done it? Even Googled someone elses name to find out more about them? In most cases this would probably be no. The few that say yes will be just to see what happens when I Google my name.

But the reason I bring this up is because your likely to get a Facebook profile or even worse Bebo as it displays more information on the intial page.

This got me thinking is there a reason why a search engine really needs to index all the individual profiles. The search engine was brought about to find your way around the internet in my opinion as long as it gets you to site you want its done its job, so have www.facebook.com would be enough not the individual profiles.

Fundamentally its all about you being careful what you post on the net and making sure you go through all the settings so that your profiles don’t appear.

However my question is it really right for search engines to index profiles in their listings? Do they have to take more responsibility to whats indexed?
