Why blog?

by Stueeeey on Jun.30, 2010, under General

Why do I blog?

Well if the truth be known I don’t actually know.  The blogs have become a bit patchy of late due to no urgency to do them but thinking back over the time I have been blogging the reason for doing it has changed.  When I first came up with the idea to blog it was something to use up a hosting package that I had bought to practice something that I was doing in my degree and that was web design.  I kind of did a few things before moving into blogging on here but nothing really took off, then I saw all the bloggers out there that made money and thought why not?

So I setup the blog in order to make money, however if your thinking about that now I wouldn’t because unless you’ve got something unique your not going to make enough traffic in order to make it profitable, there are odd people that do make it but you need a following and being unique gets you that.  Not saying that I don’t get traffic I just don’t get enough to make money.

So why do I carry on doing it?

Well the truth is I do as something to do I can go weeks without wanting to do it or I can go weeks with posting a blog post everyday, its really depending on how I feel, it is mostly away of letting off steam about stuff in the news and technology.  Although must admit it has got me through some tough times, due to the fact it was something else to focus on.

Would I say a Blogs a good thing to have?

Definitely its some where you can voice your opinions on something or help people with stuff they don’t understand, the web always give you an out to other people that are liked minded so why not give it ago and see what happens specially if you decide to get your own domain submit it to google and just see what happens.

Unlimited no longer means Unlimited

by Stueeeey on Jun.11, 2010, under Computers, General

For years now people have said they will give you an emailed service for a set amount of money, which nobody really thought of due to the fact these plans were normally quiet expensive.  Now in the data hungry world that we find ourselves in unlimited plans have now dropped in price and everyone has unlimited something and companies are fighting back.

You can look at broadband for instance the only ISPs that offer an unlimited option all be subject to fair usage is BT and O2.  When Tiscali got taken over by Talk Talk that was the first thing Talk Talk did was get rid of the unlimited stance and replace it with an allowance.

Now O2 customers of the phone variety could be having a shock O2 plan on removing the unlimited stamp on their mobile Internet with the launch of the IPhone 4.  They are planning on doing this in order to build a faster network.

What do you think good or bad?

Update

O2 aren’t even being competitive with their pricing for example 10mb on 3 is £2.50 and 1gb is £5 o2 want £10 for 1gb

Coffee no benefit?

by Stueeeey on Jun.04, 2010, under General

I thought I’d would comment on something a little less serious and according to a new study done by Peter Rogers from Bristol University Coffee holds no benefits to you in the morning.  Peter Rogers said:

Although frequent consumers feel alerted by caffeine, especially by their morning tea, coffee, or other caffeine-containing drink, evidence suggests that this is actually merely the reversal of the fatiguing effects of acute caffeine withdrawal.

The more a came to think about it the more sense it made.  I know for me personally the longest time I go without a caffeine containing drink is when I sleep so by the time I have woken up if I have had the full 8 hours surely I’ll be going through a withdrawal period.

So as an experiment for the next week starting today as I haven’t had anything to drink yet I will be trying to avoid caffeine drinks and see whether I actually feel better.

BT are they having a laugh?

by Stueeeey on May.27, 2010, under Computers, Current Affairs, General

As far as I was aware the UK government was trying to push out broadband to everyone and that they also wanted to try and further the broadband quality in the UK.  This would not only benefit the country, along with the people that use the services but also the companies that provide it.

While even though the government are trying to push forward the internet in the UK it didn’t stop BT quoting pensioners in Wales £150,000 to put broadband in.  Although they were nice enough to offer to put £8,000 towards it.  You have got to ask yourself the question why did they even quote the power people that much? Also is it really the pensioners job to pay money for something in the long run will benefit BT more?

Women are actually slower then males

by Stueeeey on Feb.03, 2010, under General

Sorry girls it is a scientific fact that women are slower to get jokes then men.  But don’t celebrate just yet guys, unfortunately the scientists also proved that women are processing the joke more then men meaning that when they do eventually get to the punchline they get more enjoyment out of the joke.

So does this mean it puts a different spin on telling jokes while dating?  Who knows but don’t get down in the dumps when your women doesn’t immediately react to the joke give her a few minutes to ponder.  The reason in which scientists believe for this goes back to how men and women have developed.

Men still have an underlying need to be dominate thus needing to be quick on the ball and if they are the butt of the joke to be able to turn it around on the person.  Where as women tend to use jokes in order to establish relationships this is not saying that either sex can’t use both measures, however the need to dominate is definitely a good reason to why men need to be quicker in humour these days.
